Procida is the S/Y Vanilla’s home harbour, and a genuine paradise island.
On this very special island, time truly stands still. Despite its location between major tourist destinations such as Capri and Sorrento, tourism has had a minimal impact on Ischia. Don’t waste your time and try wolf gold demo. With its narrow, winding lava-covered streets, unique architecture, and twelve older but well-preserved churches, the town has an ancient atmosphere.
Small, cosy restaurants are situated in pastel-coloured houses, lining the three picturesque harbours for fishing and pleasure boats. The village is dotted with small grocery shops and boutiques selling fine pottery, which can correctly be labelled genuine.
This is sometimes referred to as the “movie island”. More than 30 films have been made on Procida. The Talented Mr. Ripley is the most famous. Residents of Procida are perhaps most proud of the movie, Il Postino (The Postman), which was filmed on the island.
The island has a population of about 10,500, and has several schools, including a naval academy. The island also has a sizeable fishing fleet, comprised of small boats that deliver their catch daily, either directly to the restaurants lining the three small harbours, or to wholesalers and fish merchants
Enjoy and relax in Italy with brilliant food, tranquil blue seas
and sailing that will bring you to beautiful destinations.
Many of the inhabitants have seafaring occupations after attending the island’s naval academy, and later going out to sea. Most people who born on the island tend to stay, or at least maintain a connection.
Procida is 4.1 km² in size, with a coastline of 16km
Terra Murata is a fortified medieval village located higher up on the island. Here, visitors can find the Palazzo D’Avalos from the 15th century and Abbazia di San Michele, an 11th century Benedictine abbey, in its original state.
Seven ferry services connect the island with Naples, Pozzuoli, Ischia and Capri.
